Secondary genomic alterations in non-Hodgkin's lymphomas: tumor-specific profiles with impact on clinical behavior.

چکیده
Lymphoid neoplasms are a very heterogeneous group of tumors with different biological characteristics and clinical evolutions. Current knowledge about these neoplasms has increased dramatically thanks to multidisciplinary research integrating data from morphological and phenotypic studies to molecular and genetic approaches. The heterogeneity in these neoplasms is due in part to the diversity of the cell populations of the immune system that give rise to these tumors and the complexity of the mechanisms involved in their pathogenesis. One of the most powerful methods for revealing the great complexity of these tumors is the analysis of their genetic alterations, which has allowed the definition of specific entities and provides the basis for the identification of target genes involved in the initiation and progression of the tumors. In the current issue three articles investigate the profile of genetic alterations in small B-cell lymphomas, mantle cell lymphomas (MCL) and diffuse large B-cell lymphomas (DLBCL) providing new insights on the relevance of these changes in the clinical and biological behavior of these neoplasms.

Genetic background and evolution of relapses in aggressive B-cell lymphomas
Relapses of aggressive B-cell lymphomas pose a higher risk to affected patients because of potential treatment resistance and usually rapid tumor growth. Recent advances, such as targeting Bruton tyrosine kinase, have provided promising results in small numbers of cases, but treatment for the majority of patients remains challenging and outcomes are generally poor. A number of recent studies ha...
متن کاملMolecular etiology of mature T-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphomas.
T-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphomas (NHL) represent approximately 10-15% of all lymphomas diagnosed in Western countries. Significant progress has been made over the last 2 decades in defining non-random chromosomal abnormalities. Cytogenetic and molecular analyses have enhanced diagnostic capabilities as well as improved classification and prognostication for T-cell NHL. Gamma-delta T-cell receptor...
متن کاملClinicopathological study of gastrointestinal Lymphomas and their survival in the patients referred to Yazd hospitals during 2011 to 2016
Introduction: Malignant lymphoma is divided into two subgroups of Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkin's, and 40% of them occur in areas other than the lymph node, the most common being the digestive tract. According to studies, in recent years the prevalence of non-Hodgkin's lymphomas has increased over the past. Therefore, in this study, we investigated the gastrointestinal lymphoma and the survival rat...
متن کاملNon-Hodgkin's lymphoma presenting as a primary bladder tumor: a case report
INTRODUCTION Primary lymphoma of the bladder represents 0.2% of all bladder malignancies. Secondary involvement of the bladder by malignant lymphoma occurs in 10% to 50% of cases. Most lymphomas of the bladder are non-Hodgkin's lymphomas of the B-cell type, with preponderance among women. The impact of positron emission tomography (PET) on tumor staging has recently become very important due to...
متن کاملNON-HODGKIN\'S LYMPHOMA IN IRAN
Two hundred and ninety cases of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma from the Fars Province Cancer Registry and Mashad University Hospital were reviewed and classified according to the new International Working Formulation for clinical use. The cases fall into low-grade (35 male, 26 female), intermediate-grade (61 male, 26 female), and high-grade (84 male, 26 female) groups. Each group includes several ...
